Vixen's Wedding
Vixen's Wedding
When Todd Duplechan from Lenoir called us with visions of a Goan restaurant, we were into it before he finished his opening sentence.
Goa is a coastal state in India once colonized by the Portuguese, and Vixen’s Wedding serves up bright fare that incorporates both cultures – with a little Texas kick. The name comes from a Portuguese fable of the vixen (fox) who, with her beloved, the wolf, chose both rain and sun on their wedding day, bringing good fortune.
To echo the spicy mashup, we took cues from the vibrant colors of India, the eponymous fable, and the fishing culture of Portugal. Enormous custom waxed canvas and basket light fixtures fill the ceiling. Earthy planters, woven macrame panels, custom pine furnishings, and a handmade “fishing net” create texture and softness. And a tailor-made mural illustrates our lovers, the vixen and the wolf. (If you want to learn more about the fable, you can read the whole thing in style on a series of three sparkly panels while you’re waiting for a drink near the bar!)
