Kemuri

Kemuri Tatsu-ya is where Japanese izakaya meets Texas barbecue. The common denominator? Smoke. (Translation to Japanese = Kemuri.)

We took two trips to Japan and countless trips across Texas countryside (not to mention eBay) to seek out the perfect blend of Texas and Japan. Things weren't as different as you'd think. We kept a lot of the features of the original (Live Oak Barbecue) space – like the smoke-stained walls – and just layered over them again and again to make it feel lived-in,
like Kemuri Tatsu-ya had been there forever. Including construction setbacks and the time it took to find the space, it took four years to bring Kemuri to life – so it did feel like forever. But we think it was well worth the wait.

Just like any space, Kemuri Tatsu-Ya is evolving all the time, so be sure to go by and check it out. And don't miss the Hot Pocketz – they're our favorite. Irrashaimase!
