Years ago, we worked with Stiles Switch BBQ on a quick refresh at their original Lamar location. We enjoyed befriending these die-hard pitmasters – not to mention sampling the fruits of their labor.

So when they wanted to bring their comfort food and character to a strip mall in suburban Austin, we were ready. Where we come from, music and barbecue require authenticity, so authenticity we brought. We filtered the vanilla space through a lens of an old barbecue joint, layering in a mixture of old + custom lighting, reclaimed ceiling beams, repurposed chairs, and a mass of funky ephemera as eye candy for guests waiting in the obligatory line. The result is a space Texans will feel rights at home in – and where the warmth and personality of Stiles Switch shines through.  

Side note: guests might be surprised to learn that Janis Joplin may have sat in these booths – they were originally located in the world-famous Armadillo World Headquarters but traded to Stiles in exchange for barbecue for life. (Good trade all around!)
